Speeches
(Hagåtña, Guam)— I join our entire island community in mourning the loss of former Mayor Paul McDonald and extend my heartfelt condolences to his wife Elaine, their children, grandchildren, and the entire McDonald family during this extremely difficult time.
As we remember his life and legacy, let us also celebrate the countless ways he gave back to Guam. Mayor McDonald was a true public servant—a man of integrity, compassion, and deep commitment to the people he served. His leadership left a lasting imprint on his village and on our island.
(Washington, D.C.) In light of recent concerns regarding the future of funding for the Guam Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), I want to provide some clarity and reassurance on the issue.
(Washington, D.C.) Congress has officially passed H.R. 1—a broad legislative package shaped over months of negotiation in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate. At close to 900 pages, the bill now heads to the President’s desk for final signature into law. The measure covers a wide range of federal priorities, with provisions touching on everything from defense and infrastructure to healthcare and tax policy.
(Washington, D.C) In response to recent concerns regarding a proposed 1% federal remittance tax included in H.R. 1, I want to provide clarity and reassurance to the people of Guam that this provision does not apply to our island.
