VETERAN AFFAIRS SECREATRY RESPONDS TO INQUIRY

In response to Congressman Moylan’s inquiry regarding the resignation of the former Guam Vet Center Director, The Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Douglas Collins, has provided assurance and closed out the issue with the utmost professionalism and care for Guam's Veterans. Congressman Moylan extends his deepest gratitude to Secretary Collins for addressing the matter. 

The Department of Veterans Affairs has confirmed that a new Vet Center Director was appointed, emphasizing the critical nature of this role in serving the veteran community on Guam. This position was exempted from the earlier hiring freeze, underscoring the VA's dedication to ensuring seamless continuity of care and services for veterans. Additionally, the VA has been providing monthly briefings to Congressman Moylan on matters pertaining to the Vet Center and veterans' services, showcasing the continued commitment from the VA and the close partnership between the agency and the office in addressing the needs of Guam's veterans.

Congressman Moylan is pleased with the proactive approach taken by Secretary Collins and the VA, which demonstrates a positive direction and willingness to collaborate with the office. In his letter, Secretary Collins commited to providing Guam’s veterans with the highest standard of care and support, and to ensure the well-being of all veterans in Guam and across the nation. This interaction signals a promising start to addressing longstanding veteran issues on Guam such as expanded services and increased staffing.
