Statement: National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day
(Washington D.C.) — “Today on National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, we pause to recognize the men and women who put on the uniform each day to protect our communities and keep our nation safe.
Here on Guam and across the country, law enforcement officers serve with professionalism, courage, and a deep sense of duty, often under difficult and extremely dangerous conditions. Their work calls for sound judgment, restraint, and unwavering commitment, yet too often goes unseen and underappreciated.
I especially commend the Guam Police Department, Guam Customs and Quarantine Agency, Guam Park Police, the Department of Agriculture’s Conservation Officers, and all those who serve in law enforcement on island.
We also remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, and we honor their families, who carry that loss long after the headlines fade. Their service is not forgotten.
Strong public safety depends on trust, accountability, and mutual respect between law enforcement and the communities they protect. Supporting our officers and strengthening those relationships is essential to the safety and well-being of our island and our nation.
I extend my deepest appreciation to Guam’s law enforcement officers and to officers across the nation for their service, their sacrifice, and their continued commitment to serving and safeguarding our communities.”
