HOUSE PASSES CONGRESSMAN MOYLAN’S AMENDMENT TO ESTABLISH VA REGIONAL OFFICE IN GUAM
(Washington, D.C.) An amendment introduced by Congressman Moylan to advance the establishment of a permanent Veterans Administration Regional Office on Guam was agreed to by voice vote in the U.S. House of Representatives. The provision was included in the FY2025 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act, which passed the House at 5:10 p.m. on June 25, 2025.
“Our veterans deserve better! This amendment is a major step toward finally delivering the respect and recognition our veterans on Guam have long deserved,” said Congressman Moylan. “I introduced this measure to honor the service and sacrifice of our island’s veterans and their families, and to ensure they are never again treated as an afterthought.”
The amendment directs the VA Secretary to begin laying the groundwork for a full-service V A Regional Office on Guam- a move that Congressman Moylan says is long overdue and vital to the region. “Guam is home to one of the highest per capita veteran populations in the United States and serves as the regional hub for the Indo-Pacific.As the Department of Defense expands its footprint in the region, the time to act is now. We must build the infrastructure to match the mission and that begins with Guam.”
The legislation now moves to the U.S. Senate for further consideration. If approved, it will then proceed to the President’s desk for final signature into law. Congressman Moylan has pledged to work closely with Senate leadership to maintain momentum and ensure this critical provision is carried across the finish line. “For years our veterans have been underserved and overlooked. Now that national attention is turning to Guam as the tip of the spear in the Indo-Pacific, we have a responsibility to make sure our veterans are not left behind,” said Moylan. “I’m hopeful that, should this measure be passed by the Senate and signed into law by the President, it will finally bring an end to years of waiting and open doors for additional VA resources to flow into Guam and the Pacific.”
