CONGRESSMAN MOYLAN ADVOCATES FOR IMPROVED VETERAN ACCESS AT NAVAL BASE GUAM

May 2, 2025

(Hagatna, Guam) Congressman Moylan has penned a letter to Captain Frye, the Commanding Officer of Naval Base Guam, addressing concerns raised by local veteran regarding operational practices at the Visitor Control Center on the base.

In his letter, Congressman Moylan highlighted the issue of inconsistent adherence to posted operating hours at the Visitor Control Center, citing multiple instances reported where veterans and their families faced inconveniences and barriers when seeking access to the base. The Congressman stressed that veterans, who have selflessly served the country, deserve the highest level of respect and accommodation when accessing facilities.

In light of the reported concerns, Congressman Moylan urged Captain Frye to consider implementing measures such as longer-term passes for military spouses of veterans, establishing staggered lunch schedules, evaluating staffing levels, and providing customer service training to improve staff interactions and professionalism. Additionally, the Congressman requested confirmation of the official operating hours of the Visitor Control Center/Pass & ID office to ensure alignment with expectations and foster accountability.

"Our veterans have made immense sacrifices for our nation, and it is imperative that they are treated with the utmost respect and care when accessing military facilities. I trust that Captain Frye and the team at Naval Base Guam will work collaboratively to address these concerns and ensure that our veteran community receives the support and service they deserve," stated Congressman Moylan.

Congressman Moylan looks forward to working closely with Naval Base Guam to ensure that the needs of the veteran community are met with the highest standards of respect and accommodation.
